About this artwork
The **Great White Pelican** is one of Africa’s largest waterbirds, easily recognised by its enormous bill and expandable throat pouch. It lives around lakes, wetlands and shallow coastal waters, where it uses its pouch like a fishing net to scoop up fish.
Interesting facts
Great White Pelicans sometimes **fish cooperatively**, forming groups that drive fish into shallow water where they can scoop them up more easily with their enormous bill pouches.
